Suitable for children, families & young people
‘Inside my heart and in my head, all kinds of feelings dwell’ Feelings are real. They make us who we are. Meet two characters, who show us it’s ok to not be ok, to feel all the feels. SYDC - Southam Youth Dance Company
A long awaited opportunity for Southam & surrounding district.
With set up funding from Arts Council England, Project OK are super thrilled to host & manage…
SYDC - Southam Youth Dance Company, a first for the area. For age 11+
What is a youth dance company I hear you ask!?
They will all have their own USP, with National Youth Dance England, being the country’s flag ship youth dance company, with its HQ in London, but they all have one main aim in common, and that’s to give ‘age & need appropriate’ expert training, across dance styles, guest choreographers/teachers and performance/touring opportunities to young dancers, what ever movement discipline they are coming from. This exposure and experience can often be life changing, whether the young person decides to go into the arts or not.
We are also super proud to champion an inclusive approach. Part of our Arts Council funding will go towards access support, for those young SYDC performers who need this provision. We would discuss specific need with you.
SYDC What, where and when!?
SYDC meet in Southam on specific Saturday’s during each term, led by a core professional team of dance artists, and perform/tour on scheduled dates throughout the year, as a company.
3:30pm - 5pm
A contribution towards each Saturday session.
The company premiered their first choreography in November 24’ to an audience at St James Church Southam.
Merch alert! Confirmed company members will receive a SYDC T shirt & hoodie!
NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME

What is home? This is. Navigate from point to point. They weave in and out, wobble and head bob. Watch them, witness their intricate social interactions, and see the tender moments. Their ability to "hear" home, deafened by nostalgia.
This work is part of an umbrella project, Project OK, led by Kate Taylor. Working across both central & north Warwickshire, empowering people & communities through movement, creative opportunity & performance.
With thanks to GRIT, NBBC, Creative Explorers, Jane Hytch, The Abbey Theatre, & North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College for supporting this strand of project OK.
